I don't think Knight was a different coach with one group of players than he was with the others; I just think some people benefited from the same approach that was destructive to others. Whatever you ultimately feel about a Coach Knight or a Coach Adams, you don't have to assume that one group of players is lying and the other is telling the truth. They may have genuinely had different reactions to the same experience.
I think this is very true, and also may be the problem. Just because Henderson, Gordon, et al. didn't experience the abusive behavior and comments doesn't mean those who are speaking out didn't. Don't fall for the temptation to choose sides. Choose the truth.

          Exactly

In this case, there may be a number of times it will be hard to know "the truth". Some things stated to a player were done so without others present or, perhaps, only a very few who may also be ones stating the "abuse".

Not saying any of the following is happening, but the possibility exists. You may have those who embellish because they feel what happened to them was not in the spirit of just being "coach tough". You may also have those who prefer to minimize because they may feel it was warranted or that Coach still has a hold on their future. Didn't Chynna almost leave the program? Maybe she reviewed the situation and changed her mind about what, how, and why the coaching staff was doing what it was doing. This would having little to do with whether or not it was proper procedure by the staff. It's just how she viewed it anew. Also, different players from different times makes a difference in what was experienced. Who was on the staff at the time could have tempered or enhanced what was happening.

In fact, I am hoping @_kai_: deletes all of those posts.

                  Is it this bad?
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

If you are speaking of his three sentence statement quoted by Paul S. in this morning's paper, I would not characterize that as an endorsement.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

How would you characterize it? Statement of support? It's definitely not a neutral statement or just being polite. I have not taken sides on the Adams situation (waiting for the results of the investigation), but Marshall's comments appear to he pretty supportive of Adams.

"I've always known Jody to be very intense and demanding.”
Everybody knows that Jody is intense and demanding.

I've never seen her, in the seven years we've worked together, do anything that I would consider crossing the line.”
I seriously doubt that Gregg has ever watched a Jody Adams practice. He doesn’t have that luxury of time.

“I know she holds herself and her team to a very high standard".
She expects her team to compete at the highest of level possible. Again, we all know that.

I find Gregg’s statement to be neither accusatory or an endorsement. It is very neutral and PC in my opinion.

His office is in Koch Arena, the same place as the practice facility, weight room, training room, etc. While I doubt that he spends time watching entire practices, nor paying extraordinary attention to the womens program, I would be surprised if he doesn't have some passing knowledge. It would also not be surprising if rumors are circulating among the mens basketball players, etc. In conclusion, if Gregg didn't want to lend support, he wouldn't have made the statement.

Yeah, I see your point, but I think Gregg has more important things on his mind than giving the slightest thought to what's going on in the WBB program.

I think Jody will be able to keep her job.

The O'Brien story where there were witnesses... Perhaps the witnesses were intimidated and afraid to come to O'Brien's defense. Getting pinned against a wall and then being called a liar when it's reported is bad enough. Then being required to apologize to the person who physically assaulted you is pretty low.

I think Jody will keep her job, but there will be some considerations added to her ability to keep her job. I think this is going to be a "clean it up or we have cause to terminate" situation.

I also see an environment of "support me or you lose your scholarship", which is about the lowest a coach can go.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
